Before dinner I took my grandmother for a walk down by the lake. Arm in arm we strolled on that slippery path, discussing the past year and its happenings. For a moment there I felt completely happy, as if nothing bothered me what so ever. Like the wind of change had blown all my pain away. It was a lovely and peaceful feeling, an inner calm. Have you ever felt this way?
My grandfather is buried not far from here so we walked past and lid a candle. We do that sometimes, as if to tell him his memory and love still is present. He left a big empty space when he left us, he was my angel and my best friend. It's sad how the loss of a loved one can leave such deep marks.

Today we took my mother to visit my father's grave. It was our first visit since his funeral in November. We said a prayer and I think we all felt something powerful as we stood there in the cold air, with the crisp snow beneath our feet. There was a real sense of peace.

I understand the ache of missing loved ones, especially during holidays. My mom loved every bit of celebrating and she is always so missed these last two years that she's been gone.
